Amaryllis, often called Hippeastrum, is a popular bulb plant known for its large, showy, trumpet-shaped flowers, according to multiple gardening sites. While often mistaken for the true Amaryllis (Amaryllis belladonna), the plant commonly grown indoors is actually from the genus Hippeastrum.
